Fresh fish from the Gulf Coast steamed until the oils
from the fish infuse the broth with a distinct flavour rarely tasted on the
West Coast.
Mixed media installation for Mad Pride
2010 at Gallery Gachet in Vancouver BC using a
formal dinner place setting complete with fine china, proper setting of
silverware, napkin, fine glasses, and candlesticks. Dinner is served. It is
homemade fish soup. However, in this soup the broth is motor oil reminding us
of the long-term consequences of the massive oil spill in the Gulf Coast and
how, ultimately, it will affect the very food we eat. "Homemade" or
"fresh from the sea" is no longer good for you when our food sources
have become contaminated and/or genetically modified (i.e., corn). How does
this affect our emotional and mental health? Time will tell.
